Everyone was surprised to see Santa at school on Friday! It was such a nice treat, plus everyone received a candy cane to take home.
Taking a ride on the Polar Express was another huge success! Everyone loved coming to school in their PJs. In the morning we did 8 different activities- writing, cooking decorating, pajama coloring, graphing, marshmallow addition, and others- on the "train cars". In the afternoon we enjoyed eating our decorated cookies, and drinking hot chocolate while watching the Polar Express. This is always a fun way to celebrate the Christmas season. We love combining the two kindergarten classrooms and having parents come in to help.
Everyone looked great in their fancy outfits for the Christmas show. The songs were beautiful and the kids did a great job! This is always a fun night to celebrate together before the Christmas break.
During our Christmas Around the World unit we painted poinsettias to help us remember some of the Mexican traditions.
We flew to Germany to learn all about the origin of the Christmas tree. Germany was one of our favorite countries to learn about. Especially when ice-cream cone Christmas trees were created with green frosting and mini M&Ms to help us remember the lesson. They tasted pretty delicious!
This year St. Viator participated in A Million Good Nights Pajama Drive. Our class took this opportunity to do some math and count up all of the pajamas we collected - 95!! This was also a great learning opportunity to learn about those less fortunate than us and how we can help. Thank you to everyone who made this campaign a success.
In December we learned all about how different countries celebrate Christmas. Before we could board the plane to travel the globe, we first needed to make our passports. In these pictures the students are using mirrors to look at themselves and draw their passport pictures.
